Kate the Crafty Gardener

I create unique, beautiful and useful hand sewn items for the home and garden using re-purposed and up cycled fabrics.

I purchase my fabrics secondhand and in charity shops and often use old curtains or clothes.

I attend artisan and craft markets around Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire selling my creations.

A twenty-five year friendship with a sewing machine.

My sewing story starts with a birthday present at 17. A sewing machine. I vividly remember travelling to collect it from the shop and feeling my excitement rise. I was a talented amateur and made clothes, bags and soft furnishings for myself, family and friends.

Over the years I have built up my skills and confidence and I now produce beautiful items for the home and garden.

My old sewing machine has been replaced - but only just, and I am making friends with my new one.

Introducing Crafty Kate

I grew up near the sea loving the outdoors and all things creative. I played the piano and made things, learning to sew on my Mum’s old Bernina machine before buying my own. I love to knit, crochet, sew by hand and machine.

I studied Music at university and went on to train as a Primary School Teacher. I pursued this career for nearly twenty years before taking a break to work in therapeutic gardening. I now sell my items at local markets in Herefordshire and beyond and will soon be teaching sewing workshops.
